TURIN: WHERE TIME STANDS STILL

Once upon a time, there was a city where the hands of the clock stood still, a timeless place that jealously guards the legacy of its glorious past to this day, visible on every street corner. Its name is Turin. Centuries of history, ambition and determination transformed it from a small village to the capital of the Duchy of Savoy, and it has now become a city famous for art, culture, cinema, cars and chocolate. In fact, it is the city which has given birth to some of the most significant icons of Italian excellence, including Gianduja chocolate, the leading light of Turin’s culinary tradition. As for art, remember that, should you choose to stay in Turin between 3 and 5 November, you can experience Artissima, the foremost exhibition of contemporary art in Italy.

The most important landmark in Turin is the Mole Antonelliana. Today it houses the National Museum of Cinema, where visitors can take a tour through the history of cinema. This is just one of many journeys through time in a city that lives midway between the past and the future, where the distinction no longer exists, and the temporal dimension ceases to exist. Let’s not forget the Piazza Castello, an historic drawing room and the heart of the city’s development from Roman times to the Risorgimento, surrounded on three sides by elegant porticos, with the Palazzo Madama at the centre. Turin is also home to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, the most important museum dedicated to Egyptian art and culture apart from the one in Cairo. This is an indispensable part of your stay. You will be astonished by the remnants and relics of one of the civilisations that defined human history. The sensation that time is standing still can also be found in the historic cafés that typify the city. Cross one of their thresholds and you will find yourselves catapulted into the eighteen hundreds, enjoying an incredible Gentleman Experience for a couple of hours; only after this experience will you know that you have transcended the boundaries of time. This is because the elegance of days gone by is also the elegance of today. You are not subject to the passage of time, and neither are class and elegance. Do you have them? Then you have always had them. Seeing is believing. The "Caffè Confetteria Al Baccarin", the favourite of Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour, and the "Caffè Gelateria Fiorio", have long been revered by the local Savoy nobility.  Besides the cafés, there is one restaurant in particular that has always been frequented by Gentlemen such as Cavour, Casanova, Puccini, Nietzsche, Verdi and Marinetti. We are talking about the historic “Ristorante Del Cambio”, a timeless place that overlooks the Piazza Carignano. Close your eyes for a few moments and then open them again. Rediscover the essence of the Gentlemen of the past that is within you. It was they who created you Gentlemen of today, leaving a legacy that will help you to shape the Gentlemen of tomorrow.

We at Boggi Milano are not immune to this timeless charm.
