MOMENTUM PITT

FLORENCE: CRADLE OF WESTERN CULTURE

Florence has been home to many famous personalities, whether architects, sculptors, painters, writers, princes and preachers. Its fame is in part due to names such as Giotto, Leonardo Da Vinci, Dante and Michelangelo. Today the city’s creative verve lives on in events such as Pitti Immagine Uomo.

Now that we can say goodbye to 2017 and welcome to 2018, Florence provides the perfect introduction to the new year, with one of the most famous events in the fashion world: Pitti Immagine Uomo. This show, which dates back to the 1950s, is held twice a year, and the January 2018 edition will run from 9th to the 12th.

No image describes Florence better than that of a mother who has held the most brilliant minds in her arms, bringing them up, passing on her powerful character and noble personality, thus encouraging the emergence of so many unique talents. Whether architects, sculptors, painters, writers, princes or preachers, Florence has had – or welcomed – innumerable children whose fame remains absolute still today, such as Brunelleschi (the cathedral’s dome carries his name), Masaccio, Cimabue, Giotto, Leonardo Da Vinci, Dante, Lorenzo Il Magnifico, Donatello and Michelangelo. All these individuals contributed to progress, whether in art, science or literature. This glorious past can be seen everywhere in the city: you just have to turn a corner to encounter a new fragment of history. It would be impossible to mention all the highlights, but there is no doubt that near the top of the list is Piazza della Signoria, which represents a focus of social and cultural life, with a privileged view onto Palazzo Vecchio. Close by you can see the Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Campanile designed by Giotto, the Baptistery and the Uffizi Gallery. Florence is hallmarked by grandeur, beauty, majesty, culture and nobility. It is divided into two by the river Arno. Ponte Vecchio, one of the bridges crossing it, is probably one of the most photographed bridges in the world. It is incredibly romantic and evocative, above all in the evening, when its lights are reflected in the river. It is lined by jewellery shops and ateliers. Dear Gentlemen, Ponte Vecchio is an unmissable location in the city, particularly if you are visiting it with your significant other, who will undoubtedly appreciate a tour amongst the jewellery shops, part of an ancient tradition. After all, as one of the Boggi Milano rules says, “A Gentleman puts her happiness first.” This part of the visit could be brought to a pleasurable conclusion at Caffè dell’Oro, not far from Ponte Vecchio, a restaurant with a particularly elegant, romantic and sophisticated setting. The ideal location for a truly special occasion.

We at Boggi Milano have also arrived in this city, taking our place in this cradle of genius.
