GENEVA: A WELL - PRESERVED TREASURE
In the early months of the year, Geneva appeals to Gentlemen from all over the world, inviting them to follow the rules and meet in this city from 8 to 18 March, at the 88th edition of the International Motor Show. Here at Boggi Milano, we take the opportunity of reminding you that “A Gentleman always follows the rules. His own rules”. This event of impeccable class is yet another invitation to respect the Gentleman’s code of ethics. It brings together 180 automobile manufacturers who will present their latest models along with the most futuristic concept cars, an inspiration for all motoring enthusiasts who will dream of driving these wonders of technology, powerhouses of styling and engineering.
The choice of Geneva as location for this event is no coincidence. The city is in perfect harmony with the Gentleman’s attitude. Geneva is Switzerland’s most cosmopolitan city, and it is also known as “the smallest metropolis in the world.” It is a centre of trade, banking, industry, culture and university research, and it is also familiar as the “capital of peace,” because the European headquarters of the UN is located here, in addition to the Red Cross.
Geneva is like a small treasure set in a casket of mountains and hills, looking over the largest lake in Western Europe, Lake Leman. On the lake, the “jet d’eau” is a notable sight, one of the symbols of the city. This fountain has a jet so powerful that it creates a column of water 140 metres high. You can see it from the lakeside, or when you cross from one side of the lake to the other using the water taxis named “Mouttes”. The left bank is home to the historic centre, with the cathedral of Saint-Pierre, the major shopping streets (principally Rue de Rive and Rue du Rhone) and the business districts. The old centre is also famous for its many antiques shops making it a paradise for collectors. The right bank is packed with luxury hotels and restaurants.
If you would like to enjoy a few hours of peace and relaxation, we recommend adopting the Gentleman’s attitude and savouring a tasty dinner during a mini-cruise on the Savoie, a Belle Epoque ferry-boat. From the decks you will be able to view the city’s major tourist attractions, castles, vineyards, and the snow-covered peaks behind. The panorama is capable of instilling a unique sense of tranquillity.
