MOMENTUM MILANO SALONE

MILAN FORNITURE SHOW, 17 - 22 APRIL 2018

Milan and the surrounding area has a long tradition of furniture design and production, and since 1961 the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, which is generally known internationally as simply the Furniture Show, has attracted visitors from all over the world. This year it will run from 17 to 22 April, 9.30am-6.30pm, with over 2,000 companies exhibiting at the Rho MilanoFiera showground.

In addition to the main event, the Salone also comprises the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, the kitchen technology show EuroCucina/FTK, and the International Bathroom Exhibition. All these events are open to specialists only from 17 to 20 April, and to the general public on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 April. SaloneSatellite is the only section of the Salone open to the general public for all days of the event, and it focuses on designers under 35 who present their prototypes and benefit from interaction with manufacturers and talent scouts.

During the Salone del Mobile, Milan comes alive with a huge number of collateral events – this year 1,151 – in many locations, in a city-wide, collective festival known as “Fuorisalone.” It has become a key event in the city’s calendar, a universal festival because it makes the finest and newest expressions of design accessible to everyone. Nearly all the events are free of change, and there is a packed calendar of openings, aperitifs, meetings and presentations. Certain areas have acquired their own identity, such as the Brera district, the Cinque Vie area close to the Cathedral, and the vast, pulsating energy of the Tortona district. Milan’s design museum, the Triennale, will be running over 20 special exhibitions. Ventura Centrale reopens the spectacular abandoned warehouses underneath the Central Station, using them to present emerging and consolidated designers. Ventura Future is a new destination, with three locations near Piazza Loreto showcasing 82 exhibitors and their vision of the design of the future.

Superstudio on Via Tortona runs its own event, Superdesign, with selected designers and studios, this year on the theme of “Only the Best,” with art direction by Giulio Cappellini and shows by famous names including Nendo and Dassault Systèmes.

So, Gentlemen, just take your pick. We suggest starting with Boggi Milano, and more specifically the flagship store in Piazza San Babila. A partnership with MDF Italia presents some of the most iconic pieces by this furniture brand, such as the Libreria Minima 3.0 bookshelf unit in a white and orange version, the Fuji ottoman upholstered in orange, and the Flow Slim chair upholstered with a patterned textile in tones of orange and brown.

The installation expresses the close affinity between Boggi Milano, which is the perfect expression of how design can be applied to enhancing the male physique, and MDF Italia, a company that applies contemporary design and material technology to the enhancement of the domestic and office environment. In both cases, improving a Gentleman’s overall quality of life.

As a look for Salone del Mobile, we recommend expressing your originality with a look that we have selected specially for the event. Feel contemporary with a suit in natural stretch wool and a pair of sneakers, along with a shirt in stretch cotton poplin and a jacquard silk tie. Design has never looked better.
