GENOVA SALONE

GENOA: WHERE OPPOSITES ATTRACT

Genoa is a city that lies halfway between two opposing worlds, the mountains behind and the sea in front. Words are superfluous, it looks so fascinating and alluring. Many have tries to sing its praises in poetry and prose, however. In 1358 Francesco Petrarch wrote: "You will see a regal city, nestled under an Alpine Hill, superb for men and walls, whose very appearance proclaims her queen of the sea." Now in our own small way, we too at Boggi Milano will try to pay it the honour it deserves.

The Superba, for that is its nickname, boasts the most important port in Italy. The lighthouse, or rather the Lanterna, has always been the symbol of the city, and if you recall that Genoa was the birthplace of the glorious explorer Christopher Columbus, you can understand why the Lanterna has a special place in the hearts of the Genoese.

Genoa is a place where modernity and tradition come together, creating a city with a sparkling and dynamic character. Strolling through the caruggi, the small medieval alleyways, you will be charmed by the many palaces, some of them medieval, others from the Renaissance and yet others in Baroque style. We recall the Rolli Palaces that once housed the Genoese nobility and that today are UNESCO World Heritage sites. Apart from this, you also see chic, elegant shops cohabiting in perfect harmony with workshops and traditional markets.

The Aquarium is the main tourist attraction in Genoa, the largest in Italy and the second largest in Europe. It is yet another expression of the indissoluble link between Genoa and the great blue sea. The Boat Show, an annual event held every year in late September, also expresses this bond. It attracts not just lovers of the sea, but also fans of boats and water sports. An excellent opportunity for you Gentlemen to demonstrate your love of the great blue and express your sporty side in a look marked by comfort and adaptability but no less elegant or refined for that. Let the details speak about you, make you stand out, because this blue elegance that we offer you does not boast about itself but rather follows the rule: "A Gentleman makes everything sound simple." A genuine simplicity which is also found in Genoa itself. Just think of the culinary delights that make it famous: focaccia and pasta with pesto.

Its versatility and instinctive feel for living between opposing worlds let it satisfy even the most refined palates. For lunch we recommend the Indarsena Oyster Bar, ideal for lovers of shrimp, oysters, lobster and fresh fish in general. In the evening, however, try the San Giorgio restaurant which offers traditional Ligurian cuisine in an elegant and discreet setting.

Dear Gentlemen, we at Boggi Milano have been charmed by the Superba and we are confident that it will be love at first sight for you too if you give Genoa a chance.
